5 Reasons Beer Friends are Best Friends

Over my short 3-month journey through the amazing world of Craft Beer, I have met some incredible individuals that share in the same passion for craft beers. Whether I meet someone on social media, the local bottle shop, a brewery or bar; people in general are pretty receptive to conversation and are beyond excited to talk about beer.

Reformation Brewery on Georgia Beer Day

Recently, I went to Reformation Brewery in Woodstock, GA for Georgia Beer Day and one of the beer friends that I met online surprised me with a T-shirt and some brews and I thought to myself, “Beer friends are the best friends”. I didn’t ask for that nor did I deserve it, but because Beer Friends are Best Friends, it kinda works out that way. Here are my reasons to this statement.

5 Reasons Beer Friends are Best Friends

1. They are the most intellectual & most creative group of people that I know.

I think it takes a certain level of finesse and craftiness (pun intended) to deeply understand and appreciate craft beer. Craft Beer is for everyone but unfortunately everyone isn’t for craft beer. There’s more to drinking craft beer, there’s a deep relationship and almost intimacy as you enjoy it and it takes patience to do so.

2. They are inclusive of all backgrounds and diversities.

To quote one of my newer friends the BeeredBlackMan, “I don’t see color. I see craft beer“. That quote in and of itself isn’t my reason, but it shows an inclusiveness that I tend to discover in every person that I meet. In almost every interaction I’ve had; whether online or face to face, the love of beer casts no shadow on differences. So I say to ‘Merica, drink more craft! Whatever has separated us in the past, let the love of beer reconcile us. Amen!

3. They are generous, big hearted and trustworthy.

I remember my first beer trade. I happened to send mine first and was nervous that I just might not get my trade in return, but of course I did. I’ve seen countless giveaways of rare and hard to find beers, to simple local beer and that makes me happy. We want to share the goodness of beer with the world, so sometimes we send beer to friends for free. Send beer for free, because free beer is good beer.

4. Beer friends know how to have a good time.

From chugging beer to beer pong; beer selfies to shower beers; sporting events to bottle shares, beer has always been the cornerstone of a good time. It’s in the very celebratory salutation, Cheers, to express good wishes.
